The Story Behind the Bnai Zion Story

"Jews have endured Anti-Semitism for centuries, but to encounter it here in beautiful Sunny Isles, Florida is something I could never have imagined," this is the opening statement in an article written by a Shul's Rabbi claiming the city mayor is a blatant anti-Semite.

YW published the article, and everybody is accepting it at face value, and perhaps it is as bad as it looks. Still, I would expect from a news venue that is pretending to be accurate and objective, to Google the synagogue to find some background on the issue.

B'nai Zion was a conservative synagogue, acquired by an Orthodox Congregation. It seems that the former congregants or like-minded people would like to preserve the old place, possibly out of jealousy to the orthodox success. The case was already adjudicated in court, and judging from the article and petition, is seems that the city won.

Perhaps, we're ought to be appalled by the Mayor's action, but we also deserve to know the facts.
