The Turner Story That Was Killed: Fooling Jewish Voters

Even from the distance, I felt from the beginning that this whole campaign in Orthodox circles that Turner is the Pro-Traditional Marriage choice, is a political game. Turns out, it's much more that that. So-called Askunim actively worked to distort the facts and fool the Frum voter.

Asher Taub Esq, a former Republican candidate for Congress, was an early Turner supporter. There he learned that they don't want to draw a distinction between their candidate's and Weprin's position on gay marriage. What's most shocking, is that Orthodox Askunim blocked his story from reaching the Orthodox community. As I mentioned yesterday, Taub's story wasn't published in the frum press, after pressure from Hikind and others who portrayed Turner as the Moral choice.

Here is the story that Taub submitted to the news outlets, but it was never published:

TURNER THE TOEIVAH
By Asher E. Taub, Former Republican Candidate for NY CD-6

Bob Turner has refused to campaign on the gay marriage issue.  For many of our Charedi brothers and sisters, this is the most important issue in the campaign.  Indeed, at a debate held at the Young Israel of Kew Garden Hills, Mr. Turner said that the Gay Marriage issue was not an issue in this campaign.  (Indeed, Mr. Turner believes in civil unions for Gay and Lesbian couples.) He further said “and for some sadly it is.”  In other words those who make it an issue (frum Jews) are pathetic.  Indeed, when I still was trying to help Bob Turner, the only negative comment I ever received from his campaign staff, was when I discussed the Gay Marriage issue in an article in Yeshiva World.  Indeed, numerous frum republicans who have brought up the issue in public have been shut down by the Turner campaign.  All Turner staffers have been ordered not to discuss the issue.  This is the same man who openly and actively campaigned against Gay Marriage in the 2010 election against Anthony Weiner.
After a lengthy search, the truth was discovered.   The reason Bob Turner to campaign on the gay marriage issue was that he afraid that if he harped on the gay issue, his dirty little secret would be discovered.  Bob Turner served as Treasurer for Family Focus.  In his 2010 personal financial disclosure, Turner listed himself as Treasurer for Family Focus Adoption Services. He also noted that he served in a voluntary and unpaid capacity. [Turner 2010 PFD, 5/27/10].  Conspicuously, as soon as Anthony Weiner resigned from Congress, Mr. Turner resigned from being the treasurer of Family Focus Adoption Services.  He is still listed on the group’s “Wall of Friendship”, “Wall of Honor” (as one of the service’s “benefactors”), and “Wall of Memory.” [Family Focus Adoption Services website, accessed 7/12/11].
In 2009, Family Focus Adoption Services was listed as “a great agency to consider” for LGBT couples looking to adopt. According to Associated Content, Family Focus “has been a LGBT friendly adoption agency for a long time and they even have special LGBT adoption programs set up to help you through the process.” [Associated Content, 4/23/09].  In 2010, Family Focus Adoption Services received the Human Rights Campaign’s All Children-All Families Seal of Recognition, given to agencies that “enhance LGBT cultural competence among child welfare professionals and educate LGBT people about opportunities to become foster or adoptive parents to waiting children.”  Family Focus claims to be one of the first agencies in the U.S. to receive this distinction. [Family Focus Adoption Services website, accessed 7/12/11].  According to a brochure published by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, Family Focus executive director Maris Blechner has served as a member of the National Advisory Board for HRC’s All Children-All Families initiative. [HRC brochure, accessed 7/12/11]. In June 2011, Family Focus executive director Maris Blechner advocated for LGBT adoption.  According to the Queens Chronicle, Blechner “said members of the LGBT community often make great adoptive parents because like adopted children, they have experienced adversity. ‘People who’ve overcome difficulties in their own lives make very good adoptive parents,’ Blechner said.  “Over the years, her agency has placed numerous children with gay and lesbian parents. She said adults of all ages and backgrounds are eligible to become parents in New York City, regardless of marital status or sexual orientation. ‘The issue is, do I want to adopt or not. The power is in the hands of the potential parent,’ Blechner said.” [Queens Chronicle, 6/16/11].
We don’t agree with what David Weprin did in voting for Gay Marriage, but David believes it is a civil rights issue which does not affect frum Jews.  On the other hand, Bob Turner is actively involved in taking innocent children and having them adopted by gay and lesbian parents.  This is not a civil rights issue; this is a blatant attack on the norms of society.  He believes and is actively assisting in taking innocent children and turning them into gays and lesbians.  Could any frum Jew vote for Bob Turner?

It is important to note that helping elect liberal  republican, will infiltrate the party and silence any opposition to these liberal immoral issues in our country. Courtesy of Hikind, Hamodia, Biederman, and Orthodox news outlets.

Shame on those who fooled the Orthodox Jewish community!
