And let's not make a fuss of non-sense.
Days after Secretary Clinton's criticizing Israel for religious soldiers' refusal to hear women singing, telling that it reminds her of Iran, the WH held its early Hanukkah party where a gender and religion diverse choir performed. Still, it reminded me that as recently as this May the WH had a male-only choir, the Macabeats, to perform at a Jewish Heritage party. This very same choir was criticized months earlier for omitting women from a Purim video. The WH obviously understood and saw no problem in religious Jews' avoidance of Kol B'Isha (they surely vetted this group before), and it's absurd that Secretary Clinton should hold Israel to a higher standard.
Talking of the party, I find it troubling that some are making a fuss that it was held two weeks early. I thing that most attendees were happy to be able attend the WH ceremony without missing a candle lighting with their family. We have to be thankful that President Obama shows respect and appreciation to our community, and not look for non-sense to complain. This downgrades all our concerns, by showing that our whining is political and we’re constantly crying wolf. I find troubling the overweight coverage that this got on Drudge, that included questioning of the timing and the number of candles lit. Four links for a brief, non-important news story, on such a condensed site, is way too much, and it's clearly agenda-driven.
BTW, before someone jumps to blame Obama for inviting that mixed choir, let me point out that this same choir also sang Hanukkah melodies in the Bush WH.
