The NYT is labeling Councilman Domenic M. Recchia, of South Brooklyn, as possible Comptroller candidate. He can’t run for another term, but raised $277,000, and now has more than $415,000 on hand.
Letitia James, Council representative of the edges of the Jewish area in Williamsburg, considers a bid for Public advocate. She raised a little less than $50,000, but spent $48,000, leaving her with a balance of $1,391. If she runs for that position, it may put it her against the better-funded State Senator Squadron, who’s representing most of Williamsburg.
Also, Politico have an update on Hinchey’s exit from Congerss. His district may be eliminated, and combined with Hayworth’s, in exchange for republicans giving up Turner’s district. Such a plan can be tempting for both parties, who’d rather give up hard-to-defend district. The last minute change may delay the anxiously-awaited release of the new political maps.
Lew Fidler received a $1,000 donation from indicted Carl Kruger. He is pointing to donations he made during that time as a reason why he shouldn’t have to donate that contribution to charity.
