Storobin vs. Fidler Gets Really Ugly; Blogger: Storobin is Unfit to Republican

At a press conference yesterday, the candidate who whined against Fidler telling that he have Neo-Nazi ties, went in all-out multi attack on Lew Fidler. Both candidates accused each other for starting the negativity, and Storobin laid out laundry list of accusations against Fidler. In another drama reminiscent of national campaigns, a heckler appeared at the press conference, and the Storobin camp accused him of working for the Fidler campaign.

David Storobin stood before a banner reading "Character Counts," Politicker's Colin Campbell is reporting. Storobin laid out a barrage of attacks against Fidler, after saying that “Mr. Fidler’s character renders him unfit to serve in the State Senate,” Mr. Storobin firmly stated early in his speech.

“For 14 straight days, Mr. Storobin has done nothing other than talk about a perceived insult he created in only his own head.  This is now his second press conference where he has erratically engaged in nothing other than false and malicious attacks on Lew Fidler’s words and record,” Fidler’s campaign wrote in a response statement.

“Three weeks ago, my opponent — career politician, City Councilman Lew Fidler — decided to make character THE issue in this campaign,” Storobin – who described himself as “proud Zionist Jew, a strong supporter of Israel” - contended.

He accused Fidler of political cronyism, telling he’s “the kind of person who would sell out a member of his own faith, his own community, just so he can rise another rung on his career political ladder…;

“Mr. Fidler is the hand-picked candidate of political boss Vito Lopez. He is the heir — the direct descendant of “Big Tony” Genovese, Stan Fink, and Boss Esposito…;

“Mr. Fidler is a man who has given money and taken money from the now disgraced Carl Kruger — the man who pled guilty to corruption and is the reason we have this special election.”

He accused Fidler of ties to a predatory lender, telling, “Mr. Fidler has, for many years, been on the payroll as chief counsel to a company named LawCash. This is a company that advances money at extremely high interest rates to people who are suing corporations including the corporation of the City of New York... Do we really want a state senator that preys on the poor and is proud of it?”

He went on to smear Fidler for abusing parking privileges at Brooklyn Borough Hall. He also decried Fidler’s taking campaign matching funds: “Mr. Fidler has also accepted public money to crush political opponents. In 2009, despite knocking his Democrat opponents off the ballot, and despite a Republican opponent who raised less than $700, Mr. Fidler took more than $84,000 in public, taxpayer money to promote himself across his City Council district and crush a non-existent opponent who refused public financing.”

While Storobin is still dwelling on the Neo-Nazi accusation, trying to keep it in the news, the blogger who originally exposed his writings is now rambling against his Russian nationalistic pro-Putting anti-American and anti-Republican views.

In a comment on OP, the blogger noted that Storobin’s siding with the Russians against the US intervention in Kosovo goes against the Orthodox Union condemnation of the Serbian genocide in Kosovo and their support for the US military action. “Storobin denied the genocide even happened.”
