Scoop: Jeffries Willing to Mount Third Party Bid

A reader emailed me an interview published in the Satmar Yiddish weekly Der Yid with Hakeem Jeffries. Almost at the end, Jeffries is responding affirmative to a question if he will on the WFP in case he lose the democratic primary. He answered that he will.

Part of Der Yid Interview

Here is a translation of the exchange:

"Der Yid: If Charles Barron wins the primary, would you continue to run in the general elections on the Working Families Party line? (OP: I speculated about such a scenario).

"Assemblyman Jeffries: Yes!

"Der Yid: And if Congressman Towns wins the primary?

"Assemblyman Jeffries: I will continue to run in the general election at any circumstances. You are the first one to ask me that question, and you are the first one I'm telling this. You got a scoop... But I'm certain I will win on June 26."

Jeffries has good reasons to be certain.  Colin Campbell is questioning today if Congressman Towns - who promised to start campaigning aggressively later in the month - is campaigning at all. He was a no-show at important endorsement meetings, canceled out of a press sit-down, and his e-campaign is mostly dormant.
