UPDATED: Report of Velazquez-Dilan Poll

A twitter account labeled Brooklyn Politics - ran by a clearly anti-Lopez pro-Velazquez guy - reported today that their inside polls are showing that Dilan pulls 39 percent against Nydia's 57 percent. Coming from a pro-Velazquez source, it has to be taken with a grain of salt. Anyhow, even if it's accurate, I was surprised by Dilan's strength. I haven't expected him to do that well.

It's important to take into account that huge chunks of the votes are tribal (machine, Satmar groups, reformers - they vote as directed, notwithstanding their personal feelings), so it's a real possibility to overcome a double digit gap, by mobilizing these bases..

All in all, I now see a possibility of an Erik victory, and I believe that 57 percent for a 10-termer is really surprising.

UPDATE: Dan Backer - of the InnovationPAC that conducted polls to measure Nydia's popularity - thinks that this poll exaggerates Nydia's support. "This latest pro-Nydia push poll is about as believable as any of the propaganda coming out of Nydia’s Wall Street masters... I certainly don’t think, and neither of our earlier polls showed, Nydia’s support nearly that high. It stinks like push-poll propaganda,” he emailed me.

BTW, regarding my post yesterday about a Hasid attending the Gillibrand endorsement and woman empowerment rally, a prominent and highly-placed reader informed me that: "That woman is Sara Stern, sister of Gary Schlesinger of UJ Care. The two of them run a medical center called Para Care and Sara has been a medical macher for years, primarily in facilitating home care. As they are major Aronim, it is no surprise that she would stand at Nydia’s side."
