Instead of Weakened, Assemblyman Hikind Exits the Race Emboldened

Below are yesterday night's results in Assembly District 48, where Dov Hikind trounced his superly-funded opponent. It was quite clear - besides maybe for his opponent him-self - that Hikind is favored to win. Still, his opponent's backers' goal was to weaken him considerably. Instead, he finished emboldened by the results.

With 99% in, Assemblyman Hikind received 12,031 votes (78.44%) versus 3,306 (21.56%) for his opponent. Looking in the specific areas, Hikind won every ED, besides ED69, where Caller picked up 8 votes to his 6 votes.

If a half million dollar (the final tally will only be public after the last post-elections filings, and it may end up way higher) - together with a sweetheart, although-totally unrealistic, plan appealing to the pain of thousands of families, coupled with quasi support, attacks on Hikind's ardent and vocal support for the Israeli settlement movement - only chipped away less than 5 of what a Tischler-sort candidate would pick up in Borough Park, it speaks volumes of the support the Assemblyman has in Borough Park, and of the united front that coalesced behind him, in recognition of his major achievements in Albany and in the district.

One of the Assemblyman's clever moves was to unite all communities to fully and strongly support him, instead of following the old text books of only courting a few believed to dominate the political landscape in Borough Park. This is actually characteristic for Hikind, who isn't only concerned with the established powers, but is here for every community and individual in need of assistance. And it worked. The starkest example is the Satmar Zalanite faction in Borough Park. This fast growing community, that will soon have one of the largest Mosdos in the area, organized like never before in support of the Assemblyman, and turned out a large amount of voters.

Emboldened and strengthened, Assemblyman Hikind will hopefully be able to achieve even more results for his community.
