Crain's Doubts Dilan is In It to Win It

Crain's reports that political observers are skeptical on Erik Dilan's chances to defeat Velazquez in the Democratic primary. A Velazquez aid speculates that Dilan is running to position him-self to capture the seat in a future cycle. “Erik's goal is to deplete Nydia's bank account and show signs that she's vulnerable.”

Erik Dilan
Dilan's allies contend that he has a chance, with the newly added voters to the district, but they will consider an achievement anything over 35%, because "Nydia's not going to sleep for the next two years.”

Crain’s is noting that the redistricted district includes a lot of progressive votes in Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope.

Velazquez doesn't take any chances, hiring political heavyweights to defend her.
