Storobin Staffer Threatened with Contempt if Not Showing Up & More

State Senate

While the Storobin camp reported that nothing really happened in court on Thursday, something did happened. Politicker is reporting that the judge ordered to hold the Storobin staffer Alla Pometko in contempt of court if she doesn't appear in court on Tuesday. Pometko ordered and filed 119 absentee ballots that the Fidler campaign contend that they were fraudulent.

Also, Mr. Fidler wrote on his Facebook page that about 150 absentees will now be counted, after the Storobin camp withdrew their challenges.

In other news, the Brooklyn tea party, headed by Joseph Hayon, will host an event on May 20 that will feature two candidates for the Super Jewish district, David Storobin and Nachman Caller.

The Super Jewish is a step closer to reality, with the DOJ's pre-clearance for he new State Senate line. It still has to pass the court of appeals.

Boroug President

And Colin Campbell is throwing out a long list of possible new entrants into the Borough President race, after the exit of a top contender, BP Markowitz's aide Carlo Scissura. Almost all names are on my radar because of their connections or disconnections with the Orthodox communities in Brooklyn.

Eric Adams is currently the lone declared candidate.

Senator Kevin Parker, Councilman Charles Barron and Assemblyman Nick Perry have floated their names as possible candidates.

Councilman Domenic Recchia is raising money for a Comptroller race, but might want to divert it to another race if he thinks that his chances there are better. The same is for Councilwoman Tish James and State Senator Dan Squadron. They may find the BP race as an easier one.

And some names are mentioned just because they will be unemployed after 2013, but they haven't indicated any appetite for the job. 1) Councilman and possible future State Senator Lew Fidler. He might lose his job even earlier, in 2012, if he wins the State Senate race in court. But I doubt he have a stomach for another defeat, even if he wins the current race. 2) Councilman Erik Dilan, if he loses to Nydia Velazquez, he will be out of office by the end of next year. 3) Councilwoman Diana Reyna will also be term limited by 2013.

And Colin added Councilman Brad Lander into the mix. Oh, that's a stretch.

BTW, Colin cautioned that Erik Dilan is only a candidate if he loses to Velazquez, but he added no ifs to Barron. Is he biased against Barron, who is also running in a congressional primary...?
