Links & Observations

SD27
  • Nothing is really happening in court today, according to the Storobin team. No word yet on what happened with the subpoena against the Storobin organizer who allegedly obtained fraudulent absentee ballots.
SD17

  • David Storobin met yesterday his one-time supporter and possible primary opponent Nachman Caller, to discuss who is the stronger candidate. There is no resolution so far.
  • Caller publicized his vote for Mitt Romney in Tuesday's primary, trying to remind us that Simcha Felder voted for Barack Obama in 2008. Felder is now saying that it was a mistake. As for whom he will support in State Senate, he thinks it will be the majority, and it's his dream he should be able to break a tie between the 2 parties, to extract the most for the community.
  • Meanwhile the highest court of the State hears today the case against the 63rd State Senate district that the republicans added. The SuperJewish district depends a lot on their decision. Should they strike it down, the State Senate map returns to the drawing table. If Skelos will continue to fight for the district, we will have a good indication of a firm behind-the-curtain agreement. NY Observer already did away with the current district, changing the hash tag from #SD27 to #SD17. They must have a mole in the court system.
  • One clear winner of the SuperJewish is Colin Campbell, who inaugurated his first long piece in the print edition of NY Observer.
 NY7
  • Both NY7 polls I mentioned were conducted on Sabbath, meaning that it excluded the Orthodox voters who can easily make up 15 percent of the primary voters. (The PAC is telling me that they will make sure that next poll should be done midweek).
  • Objections were filed against the petitions of Dan O'Connor and George Martinez. Supporters of the latter claim that it seems the objectors are Velazquez proxies, showing that she's using the same machine tactics she riles against.

Borough President
  • Carlo Scissura, adviser to BP Marty Markowitz, gave up his plans to run for Borough President next year. He was a strong contender and his move unsettles the race. State Senator Squadron reportedly eyed this position before deciding to run for comptroller. Wondering if it will cause him to rethink. Colin Campbell throws in Lew Fidler's name. I doubt he has a stomach for another BP race...
NY8
  •   Hakeem Jeffries is working to defeat the whole Barron Family. It's about time.

  • Hikind is embracing the Jewish candidate in the intriguing NY6 race. He's isn't endorsing (of course, Lancman is far from a sure winner).
