Dilan Focus on Jewish Vote Outside Williamsburg

A day after Erik Dilan's campaign got a major boost in Williamsburg, with Vito Lopez's win of the Satmar camp battle which is expected to drive out a the Zalanites in the masses for Dilan, he shifted his focus to other Jewish voters. As reported in NY Post, Erik Dilan launched a major attack against the incumbent Velazquez for her anti-Zionist voting record. OP revealed last month about polling in the district that seemed to test this attack against Iran. We now have reason to suspect that this poll was conducted on behalf of the Dilan campaign, although a source within the campaign denied knowledge of it.

The anti-Israel attack may appeal Jewish voters in other areas of the district, like Lower East Side, Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights, but it is a non-starter - and may turn out to be a spoiler - in Williamsburg, which will probably deliver the majority of the Jewish votes in the district. Dilan - according to my opinion - is facing a difficult balancing act how to use this issue in the rest of the district, without alienating the Satmar voters in Williamsburg.

Talking of the camp issue, Dilan, and his father State Senator Marty Dilan, were also personally involved in advocating to grant the camp for the Zalanites.Others involved were Council Member Stephen Levin, Assemblyman Rafael Espinal & Assemblyman Joseph Lentol, as per Catskills paper the PostStarNews.
