Colin Campbell just released his second long piece for the Observer's print edition, and like the first one, it is covering one of the races that I'm closely following: the Olechowski challenge to Lincoln Restler, that Colin dubbed as "Restlermania". The first one was about the Super Jewish and the republican's gains in that part of the borough. It makes me wonder if all exciting things in Brooklyn are happening in the Orthodox areas?...
Sorry to tell , but while the long piece is a nice run down of the race, it's short on news items.
It contains the Lopez typical obsessive signature quote to the press "you are not going to write about it...," and headline suggestions.
One revelation is that Olechowski was recruited by Steve Levin, who wants to head off a Restler challenge next year. I find this puzzling, since Levin was reportedly offered by Restler to avoid a challenge by not challenging him. My thinking was that Levin turned down the offer on Lopez's call. For Steve to call the shots, would mean that he's not solely a Lopez awn, but someone who make political moves of his own.
Also, I find interesting that Lopez tries to position Olechowski as the first Polish-American politician.
And in a comment that haven't made it into the paper, Lopez told Colin about Restler's alignment with the aranites that: "Lincoln's on the wrong side, but he's with that side." It is reflecting a similar recent statement of his on Nydia Velasquez's,

It's nothing new to me to see how the biased Anti-Lopez media specifically Colin Campbell, report conflicting versions and analysis on the same story in order to bash Lopez, In the 54 AD Race Colin's pieces were conflicting, when it suited better the story was that Lopez is a bitch for putting up a candidate against Jesus Gonzalez, and sometimes it was just opposite, look how weak Lopez power is, Espinal should've been the candidate and winning easily,or "few imagined a competitive race" and so on,
ReplyDeleteSame here, if its sounds more negative that Lopez is putting out the district leader candidate than its Lopez, if its sound more negative that Levin than its Levin.
