Anti-Zionist Satmars Take Center Stage at Velazquez Zionist Endorsement

As I reported, Senator Schumer and Assembly Speaker Shelly Silver, together with Congressman Jerry Nadler, endorsed Nydia Velazquez today. Borough President Markowitz and State Senator Daniel Squadron - who were rumored to attend - were absent, judging from reports and photos. The endorsement of the hi-profile Jewish politicians was schedules before the Israel parade to bolster Nydia's Zionist credentials, and to rebuff the anti-Zionist charges against her.

It's interesting that while the endorsement was seen as targeted to the voters outside of the anti-Zionist Williamsburg, the Satmars took the center stage at the event (See photo).

Meanwhile, Nydia's fourth challenger, George Martinez, is claiming to be the first OWS candidate to make the congressional ballot.
