Restler Objected by Machine, Anti-Lopez Party & More North Brooklyn Stuff

The BoE sent me their list objection filings, posted below, and the machine is heavily into objecting Lincoln Restler's district leader candidacy and the slate of the reform candidates. A Monica Olechowski, presumably a relative of Chris - the Candidate who is trying to unseat Mr. Restler - filed objections to Mr. Restler and the female District Leader candidate Kate Zidar and reform Judicial Delegates candidates, including the Hasidic Joel Drummer.

(Note: those on the list will have to follow with specific objections, I'm advised. Some are erroneous objections, like the one from Tischler supporter who is telling me that his objection to Dov Hikind is because he believes that it is corruption that the republicans are giving their line to a democrat.)

And yes, they also file campaign disclosures in Williamsburg, for all who asked. Lincoln Restler is shattering his own record fund raising for a district leader race, raking in $55,000, versus over $20,000 for Chris Olechowski. Source close to him say "he's going to need every penny," given the zalanite strength in Williamsburg. Room 8's gateway reiterated that the Velazquez vs. Dilan Williamsburg results have to be worrying for Restler, and he revised the Williamsburg zalanite's strength upward, to 65 percent of the vote.

The aranites are determined to push forward their anti-Lope crusade. That was their message when partying with Congresswoman Velazque. Mr. Restler, was on hand, as were several anti-machine losers and hopefuls. One of them was Jason Otaño, who is running in a September primary against State Senator Martin Malavé Dilan.

Talking of Otano, he raised over $26,000 and transferred into his State Senate most of his money raised for a city council race , and has $30,000 on hand.  Mr. Dilan raised some $20,000 and has over $100,000 in 2 committees combined. In other developments, Otano will not get the WFP endorsement in his match-up with Dilan, although the endorsed anti-Dilan and anti machine candidate Jesus Gonzalez for his failed bid against Assemblyman Rafael Espinal and his campaign to succeed Councilman Erik Dilan next year.

Also present was Juan Martinez, who lost a 2003 challenge to Lopez's former Council ally Diana Reyna; Marty Needelman, a lawyer whose run for civil court judge resulted in bad press for Lopez, and Isaac Abraham, who lost a multi-candidate Council primary in 2009 to Lopez-backed Stephen Levin.

And Yossi Gestetner, who is usually fond of the reformers and aranites, points out of an unexpected guest at the event was Abe George, who made Charles Hynes' supposed favoritism for the Hasidim a centerpiece of his campaign.

In Southern Brooklyn, Steve Cymbrowitz is expected to lose the independence line due to a technicality; Dov Hilkind's campaign committee's charitable donations to groups employing family members raises questions.

BTW, in regards to yesterday's post detailing complaints about Gene Berardelli's withholding signatures for Jewish candidate, Gatemouth - who is no fan of the republican law chair - wrote me that he may have done them a favor, stating that "sometimes a Law chair shaves a petition for a good reason - for instance a sheet with forgeries by an otherwise good winess could endanger all a witnesses' signatures - so you get rid of it... sometimes skinnier is healthier."
