Super Jewish Filings: Prominent Greenfield-Fidler Moishes are Storobin Contributors

The July filings of the Super Jewish candidates are in, and find it interesting that David Storobin received non-cash contributions from two former high-profile supporters of David Greenfield's and Lew Fidler's campaigns. Greenfield, of course, is one of Simcha Felder's most important supporters.

Moishe Indig - who recently boasted that his group (Satmar Aranites) elected David Greenfield to city council and attended David Greenfield's endorsement rally for Lew Fidler - donated $2,400 in food and space for a Storobin event. Another Greenfield-Fidler supporter to contribute for Storobin is Moishe Friedman, who also served as campaign manager for Nachman Caller's short-lived campaign.

Notwithstanding the Moishes, Simcha Felder is way ahead in fund raising, receiving $229,349, and boasting a campaign war chest of over $525,000. Simcha's biggest contribution, $33,600, came from the wealthy Sitt family.

David Storobin raked in $150,014, but over 20 percent of it are in-kind contributions like Indig's and Friedman's, where people contributed services and products but haven't written out checks. The Caller family and business are the largest contributors, totaling $25,600.

Storobin declared $83,768.26 cash on hand, after expenses of some 77 thousand dollars. Most of it seems to be carry-overs of his last campaign, like the $1,200 for Alla Pometko, and $1,400 for Gene Berardelli, presumably for the protracted battle with Lew Fidler. Storobin still owes himself $50,000 that he loaned his campaign when running against Fidler.

While both candidates touted their fund raising successes, Abraham Tischler also filed some Tischler and anonymous contributions, and guess who petitioned for him: Gary Tilzer. Tilzer was spokesman for Joe Lazar's failed campaign to city council, and at that time he defended Tischler's rights to stay on the ballot.

Talking of Tischler, he won the backing of the School Choice party line in the primary, but that isn't much beside being in the news, since this line doesn't appear on the democratic primary ballot. He may be a joke, but he's acting like a real politician, finding a way to dodge the question with whom he will caucus without angering his democratic or Orthodox base. He opted for a remote scenario where he will support the democratic social conservative Ruben Diaz.

UPDATE: A source who always emails me Tischler links, wrote me about his candidate: "His filing doesn't show much but i know that he has the resources available to him and things are picking up dramatically."
