Press Release: School Choice Candidates Hammer Cuomo

I called yesterday to turn Cuomo's veto of the Special Ed bill should be turned in a campaign issue. To candidates had already. The following is a joint  press release by two candidates who are collecting signatures to place the School Choice party on the ballot, with plans to run on that line. Parts of Hayon's quotes were already in yesterday's post:

In the campaigns of two School Choice Party candidates running for Assembly, Mitchell Tischler and Joseph Hayon expressed frustration at Governor Cuomo’s veto of the “Special Education” bill.

Tischler said, “By vetoing this bill Governor Andrew Cuomo has denied the parents of children with special needs the right to send their children to a school of their choice”.

“Vetoing this legislation, Cuomo is saying that Jewish, Christian and other religious families are not taxpayers.” Hayon said. “The next time Cuomo wants to cut the budget, he might prohibit food stamp recipients from buying Kosher food." .

Tischler and Hayon blame their opponents, Assembly members Dov Hikind and Helene Weinstein for their collective failure to influence the man they endorsed for governor to sign this bill.

Hayon took it a step further saying, “They represented us for decades, but they never bothered to repeal the Blaine Amendment”, referring to the section of the New York State Constitution that discriminates against all religious taxpayers.

“We need a representative that will fight on the behalf of parents and children to provide the assistance that is needed, not a career politician that has more affiliation to their party, than to their constituents.” Tischler said.

BTW, as per a tipster, David Storobin is also collecting signatures for the School Choice Party, and there might be more party lines. Simcha Felder and Dov Hikind are collecting signatures for the Tax Cut Now Party & Storobin and Hikind are collecting for the Community First Party.
