Updated: Will David Greenfield Face a Republican Opponent?

UPDATE 7/23 9PM. Jacob Kornbluh posted court documents that Joseph Hayon filed today to enjoin the BoE from throwing him off the ballot, and to invalidate David Greenfield's petitions for the Independence party ballot. (I reposted below the court papers, with heads facing up, courtesy of Mr. Hayon).

It the court papers, filed with Justice David Schmidt, Mr. Hayon points out that the Board of Elections asked him to amend his filingon the wrong premise that his zip code on the petitions were wrong.  He amended it (with the very same zip code, which is in fact correct) and listed the same volumes listed by the BoE. The board now claims that their number listed on the amended cover sheet - that he shouldn't have had to amend in the first place - was incorrect. If that is true, it's the result of two errors by the BoE.

Below is my earlier report:

Jacob Kornbluh reported that Joseph Hayon, who was petitioning and raised funds to oppose Councilman David Greenfield on the Republican line was thrown off the ballot. I reached out to Mr. Hayon for comment, and he shared with us a letter confirming that such a decision was made, based on a wrong zip code on the petition letter. Given a chance to correct the error, Mr. Hayon amended the cover-sheet. The Board of Elections, though, ruled that the amended sheet doesn't comply with their rules.

Mr. Hayon shared with us a printout by the BoE  that still lists him as a candidate, as of yesterday, which might indicate that the board might live him on the ballot. Mr. Kornbluh interprets this that the board is still giving for Mr. Hayon several days to challenge their decision.

Bellow are the Board's decisions and the latest breakdown still having Joseph as a candidate.
