Hamodia Op-Ed: Fidler Treading on Thin Ice

In a continuation of the tide shift, the Hamodia posted a front page op-ed criticizing Fidler. It describes Storobin as "regular shul-goer." The piece describes Fidler’s record of fighting for Jewish causes as "not the most impressive, but impressive nonetheless."

Hamodia front page, Wednesday
It notes that Rabbi Weinberger of Agudah cautioned against interpreting his participation at the Storobin Rally as an endorsement. It warns Fidelr against taking the Orthodox vote for granted and against "continuing this path of blocking the war on terror" and misrepresents legitimate conservative concerns as supremacist, "he will find little support in this community." Notably missing in the article, is any mention of Fidler's anti-marriage stand.

A disclaimer of the newspaper notes that the article reflects the opinion of the writer, not the paper. The author, Yochanan Dunn, though, is actually the Hamodia editor. The fact that the piece is starting on the first page is "not the most impressive, but impressive nonetheless."

Below is a CBS video of the rally.

UPDATE: City & State that Nachman Caller - who is considering running for the Super-Jewish district - is placing ads in Orthodox newspaper against Fidler's anti-marriage positions. This confirms my speculation that super-Jewish candidates view Storobin as a care-taker who will allow the super-Jewish district race wide open, versus Fidler, whom it will be much tougher to defeat.
