WOW! A Bloomberg Budget without Child Care Cuts

After years when Bloomberg budget proposals spelled a frenzy campaign by the Orthodox communities to stop child care voucher cuts disproportionally effecting Orthodox neighborhoods, this year is an exception.

Bloomberg's rosier budget proposal, according to first reports, don't contain these and similar draconian cuts. Rather, the mayor is using a rainy-day fund and other revenue increases. (He's working on his legacy, perhaps).

The budget proposal does include major cuts planned for after-school programs - an issue of concern to Yeshivos in prior budget negotiations - and a reduction in the chief medical examiner's resources that was also a big issue in the last round, due to the concern that reduced staff will hamper efforts to expedite the release of bodies for same day burials.

LETS THANK THE MAYOR AS LOUD AS WE CRIED LAST TIME!
